Taste the ice dream as you make it, adjusting the amount of maple syrup to your taste. You may want to add more depending on how ripe the bananas are.
I like to buy walnuts whole and shell them myself. I don't eat them often, and I find they stay fresher in the shell. The omega-3 fatty acids in the walnuts are sensitive to light and air. Sometimes, the little bags of shelled nuts are already rancid when you buy them. One 454 gram / 1 pound bag of whole walnuts will last me most of the year.
3 medium-sized ripe bananas, peeled, sliced and frozen for at least 24 hours
1 teaspoon vanilla (extract, flavouring, or powder)
3 - 4 Tablespoons maple syrup
2 Tablespoons non-dairy milk (I used soy)
1/4 cup walnut pieces, about 6 walnuts (35 grams or 1 1/4 ounces)
Something about the combination of bananas and walnuts always lifts my mood and makes me feel happy. Such a simple thing, but so satisfying.
